ParentFilter see it work

Watch it blur a scene and skip a scene — right here

Twenty-eight seconds of a free cartoon, filtered live, the same way it works on your own films. No account, no install, nothing to connect.

  1. First, a line appears over the picture saying it has been altered. It always does.
  2. Then a blur, then a skip — in that order. (The abrupt cut a few seconds in is just where the clip was trimmed. ParentFilter didn’t do that.)
  3. You can switch it off in the middle, and see what off looks like.

So far: 0.0 s blurred · 0.0 s skipped.

Turn filtering off in the middle of the blurred scene: the picture clears in the same instant, and the skip that was coming does not happen. The cartoon itself never changes either way — ParentFilter is a remote, not an editor.

There is no mute in this demo because this cut of the cartoon has no soundtrack, and a mute you cannot hear proves nothing. Muting works the same way as the blur: the sound goes off for the seconds the guide names, and comes back on after.

Is your film covered yet?

The coverage search on the phone guide page shows which films have a scene guide today.

Tell us the film and we’ll send one email when its scene guide is ready — nothing else. We delete the request thirty days after that email, or after six months if no guide comes, and the email has a link to delete it sooner.

Already know your film has a guide, and use Chrome? The extension does the same thing while you stream — on one streaming service, named on its store page, on the Full plan, and only on films that already have a scene guide. Install it from the Chrome Web Store.

The two moments this demo acts on were typed by hand for this page. Nothing scanned this cartoon and nothing found anything in it. The sample settings are: blur anything frightening, skip violence.

Footage: Big Buck Bunny © 2008 Blender Foundation / www.bigbuckbunny.org — CC BY 3.0 (creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0). Excerpted to 28 seconds from two stretches of the film, so the abrupt cut a few seconds in was made when the excerpt was trimmed — ParentFilter did not make it. The blur and the skip that the line above counts are applied live while the clip plays, and are not part of the file. The moments are invented sample settings — the film contains none of that content. Not affiliated with any streaming service or the Blender Foundation. Patent pending.
